The municipality hunts down every drop of water:

... 3,000 m3 of water saved in six months!

Drought has been increasing in the region for several years, threatening deep and surface water resources. The River du Réal, fed partly by the Traconnade table, has reached a worrying level in recent years, triggering passages in the « crisis drought » by the Prefecture. During these crises, residents and municipalities are asked to limit their water consumption in order to preserve local water resources. To respond to these critical situations, which will be more frequent in the future, the municipality is committed to rigorous management of its consumption. The two schools, the technical services building, the socio-cultural centre and the Lou Pitchoun nursery were equipped with a telerelevance system in January 2024.

Funded 70% by the Conseil Départemental des Bouches-du-Rhône, this installation, carried out by the company Hydrelis, has saved more than 3 million litres of water (equivalent to an Olympic pool!) and more than 11,000. € In just six months.

The cable system and connected valves

Before the new system was installed, municipal meters were collected once a year, making it difficult to detect leaks or abnormal consumption.

Thanks to the telerelevance, water consumption data are now available in real time, allowing increased responsiveness to reduce water waste. The system is equipped with connected valves, offering the possibility to close the water supply remotely in case of large leakage.

The main advantages of this technology for our municipality are:

  • Accurate and immediate knowledge of water consumption in municipal buildings.
  • Early detection of small leaks, for example during abnormal use on weekends in schools.
  • Real-time alerts as soon as the predefined flow thresholds are exceeded.
  • The ability to cut water remotely in case of detection of major leakage.

This information is centralized on a web platform accessible to municipal officials and elected officials responsible for the environment. The system also sends SMS alerts for immediate responsiveness.

A valuable tool for the future

It is now a valuable tool for preserving our resources, and the savings achieved in just six months demonstrate the effectiveness of the system and its essential role in sustainable water management.

The municipality remains committed to taking all necessary measures to address this essential issue: protecting our water!
