The Department of Gold Coast deploys the technology ON switch in all its colleges to preserve the water resource

François SAUVADET, Chairman of the Conseil départemental de la Côte-d的Or (21), and Patricia VILLOSLADA, Managing Director of SUEZ Digital Solutions, today announced the deployment of the digital solution ON的connectTM switch on water distribution networks in all coastal-Dorian public colleges, which detects water losses and controls water networks, both remotely and in real time. A first in France on a Department scale!

Developed by Hydrelis, SUEZ's subsidiary, ON Once in place, the technology allows you to track the flows 24 hours a day. The algorithms embedded in electronics identify in real time the slightest leak occurring on the network. An alert shall then be sent to the college manager indicating the size of the leak and the network concerned. Equipped with a valve, the solution offers the possibility to close the defective network, either from the dedicated web portal or automatically in case of a major leak.

On-connectTM switch technology also offers the possibility of analyzing the water consumption pattern per establishment according to the days and times. In this way, it defines the automatic cut/open settings of water networks to avoid the risk of leakage, according to an activity schedule such as closing water networks at night, on weekends, and during school holidays.

Engaged for a long time in the energy transition of its own buildings, including the 47 public colleges of which it is the owner, the Department of Gold-Coast was the first department to experiment with this solution. From 2021 and in 6 establishments1. A successful experiment in these 6 colleges, since this solution detected 121 leaks, preserved 12,500 m3 of water (equivalent to 5 Olympic pools) and saved 44,000 €.

« In view of the economic and environmental performance of this solution, we have decided to deploy it to all public colleges2. We are thus the first Department of France to use this solution to save water resources. We have thus intensified our actions. Every effort must be made to preserve the water resource, streamline our expenses related to fluid management. We will continue to work with data-based tools to better control energy spending. With this technology, we transform the data into information, then this information into knowledge for active management of our consumption and heritage. » stressed François SAUVADET, Chairman of the Côte d'Or Department.

Patricia VILLOSLADA, Managing Director of SUEZ Digital Solutions stated: « As a leader in circular and digital solutions, we provide our customers with high-performance environmental services that rely on data to sustainably optimize the resources of the territories. Today, we are proud to accompany the Department of Gold Coast with the digital OnsconnectTM switch solution, which, for the next 10 years, will allow the Department's public colleges a potential water economy equivalent to 94 Olympic swimming pools. »
